Aneroid SphygmomanometersÂ
Aneroid sphygmomanometers, also known as manual blood pressure monitors, have several components that make up the device. Check the material of the cuff first. It is most likely nylon or cloth.Â
Nylon Cuff
- Remove the inflation bladder from the cuff.
- You can clean it by wiping its surface with a damp cloth or washing it using a mild detergent. Do not use a bleaching agent or solvent.
- Rinse well and let the cuff air dry. Do not iron the cuff.
Cloth Cuff
- Remove the inflation bladder from the cuff.

- Clean the device and cuff with a dry, soft cloth or a cloth dampened with water and a neutral detergent.
- Never use alcohol, benzene, thinner or other harsh chemicals to clean the device or cuff.
Omron®Â
Omron blood pressure cuff cleaning procedures can be found in their instruction manuals. This is a general guide for cleaning their cuffs.
- Do not use any abrasive or volatile cleaners.
- Use a soft dry cloth or a soft cloth moistened with mild (neutral) detergent to clean your arm cuff and wipe with a dry cloth.
- Do not wash or immerse your arm cuff or other components in water.
- Do not use gasoline, thinners or similar solvents to clean your arm cuff or other components.
